Irma Mihelič

Soprano Irma Mihelič was born in Slovenia. She began her studies in 2004 with Mrs. Elisabeth Batrice and completed a master’s degree in music (voice performance) at the University of Performing Arts in Graz, graduating with honours. In 2011 she was awarded first prize at the International Singers competition „Klassic Mania“ in Vienna, where she was also honoured with the Audience Award. In 2013 she was a Stipendiat of Richard - Wagner Stipendienstiftung Bayreuth.



Irma Mihelič has given guest performances at International opera houses in Maribor, Ljubljana, Graz, Theater Rostock, Theater Freiburg, Landestheater Innsbruck, Niederlandse Reisopera, Musikverein Wien, at the Festival Styriarte, the Stefaniensaal in Graz and in the USA, as Juliette (Roméo et Juliette/C.Gounod), Mimi (La Boheme), Gilda (Rigoletto), Valencienne (Merry Widow), Sulamith (Queen of Sheba), Nightingale (Slowenian Opera Nightingale from A. Foerster). She has performed as soprano soloist in Te Deum (A. Bruckner), Das klagende Lied (G. Mahler), Die Jahreszeiten (J.Haydn) and in J.S.Bachs Magnificat.


She has been a member of the Opera Studio at the State Opera Stuttgart since 2013 and has sung the following roles; Najade (Ariadne auf Naxos), Eurydice and Amor (Orphee et Eurydice), Wendy (world premiere Peter Pan), Adele (Die Fledermaus), Berta ( Il barbiere di Siviglia), and Soprano 1 in Jakob Lenz, a chamber opera written by Wolfgang Rihm. She also performed this role at La Monnaie State Opera in Brussels, and at the State Opera Berlin as a guest in july 2017.


From September 2015 she become a member of the Opera Ensemble at the Magdeburg Theatre where she is singing the following roles; Anne (Das Tagebuch der Anne Frank), Gretel (Hänsel und Gretel), Juliette (Die Tote Stadt), Anna Reich (The Merry Wives of Windsor), Maya (Milo and Maya around the world), Pamina (Die Zauberflöte), Countess Stasi (The Csardas Princess).


With regularity she is also a concert Singer for Example as Sopransolo from “Des Knaben Wunderhorn” in Feiburg with Freiburg Philharmonic orchestra.   


Currently  she is singing Juliette at the Nederlandse Reisopera in the NP of E.M.Korngold die Tote Stadt. (The Dead City).


Her upcoming engagements in 2019 will be in Slovenia where she will sing Gilda again and in the Easter concert as a soloist with the Aalborg Symphony and Den Jyske Opera Choir with 2 sacral pieces named Stabat Mater (F.Poulenc) and Faure Requiem in the Musikhaus Aalborg.
